This guide will help you create a dnp.prf (dynamic prompts) file that you will upload to the /a directory of the phone.
Tools Needed:
SHXCodec
Language Pack of your choice
Random’s Language Editor
A P2K app to upload the dnp.prf file.
Let’s Get Started….
1. Open SHXCodec and split the LP of your choice.
2. Once the LP is split, double click on the LP smg file. (It will be the bottom of the two things split in SHXCodec. This will open the LP Editor within SHXCodec.
3. Once you have that open, click on the language of your choice ( US English in my case) and then click parse language. Wait a while and you should see this
4.Now click save strings and save it as a ".lp" instead of ".txt" file to a place where you will remember. The best spot to save it in my opinion would be the same folder as the Language Editor, but it’s really up to you.
5. Now that you have that saved, open up Random’s Language Editor.
6. Once the Language Editor is open, click the “Show Strings List” button.7. Now Click “Load File”, and locate the lp file you saved in step 4
8. You should see a list of words now. Find the entry you would like to change and click on it once and then click “Copy”
9. After you’ve copied all the entries you want, close the String List if you want, and you’ll be back at the main screen in the Language Editor.
10. You will see all the entries you’ve copied in step 7 in the list now. Edit the value to what you want it to be, example, String 0389 is Zoom for the US English LP I am using, If I want it to say “Close Up” instead of “Zoom”, I’d change the value “Zoom “ to “Up Close”
11. After you’ve edited all the entries you wish, click File, Save As, and save the file as dnp.prf.
12. Now that we have that all saved and good to go, open up a p2k app such as p2ktools and upload the dnp.prf file you just created to the /a directory of the phone.
13. Restart the phone.14. You should now have the custom text that you changed in the language editor.
If for some reason it didn’t work, you might need to do a little seem editing. Here is the seem edit: SEEM 0032_0001 offset 72 - bit 7: Dynamic Prompts (/a/dnp.prf) changes message names (0 for 'Short Msg, MMS' , 1 for 'Text Msg, Multimedia')
I have done this on many phones and never had to do the seem edit, so try it first before you do the seem edit.
Notes: Many entries are in the string list more than once; you can use the search feature in the string list to find all the entries that you are looking for.
